11 accused in a case of lynching of two sadhus and their driver by a mob in Palghar district of Maharashtra have been found infected with the corona virus, Maharashtra Police gave this information on Tuesday.
In the district’s Gadchinchale village two sadhus and their driver going from Mumbai to Surat by car were beaten to death. A total of 156 people were arrested in this case. An official of the Palghar police station said that all the accused have been taken into judicial custody, but they have been kept in various police custody.
He said that 17 accused in the police lockup in Wada were recently tested, out of which 11 people were found infected and six others are awaiting the results of their report. He said that those found infected have been admitted to local hospitals and people coming in contact with them are being traced.
Earlier, at least two of the arrested accused were found to be infected.
The Supreme Court has filed petitions seeking investigation from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and NIA in the Palghar district of Maharashtra for allegedly beating up three persons including two sadhus by a violent mob and the Maharashtra government has been asked for the answer.
