A month ago in the month of July’20, the Supreme Court caught the attention of the countrymen by passing judgment on the Padmanabhaswamy temple. In fact, for the past several years, the matter of possession of Kerala’s Padmanabhaswamy Temple and its properties pending in the court was going on between the Raj family of Travancore. and the government wanted to take over this temple. But with the historic decision of the Supreme Court, the intention of the government was rekindled and the decision went in favor of the Raj family.
According to the information, the issue of government control over temples has always been a matter of discussion and many videos, news keeps on floating regarding the case, a similar video was shared by Praja TV on the day of 31 October 2015, about five years ago. In which it was seen that priests are removing donation boxes from temples in Karnataka. On this, the priests told that, the temple is offered money as an offering by the devotees and if it cannot be used for the Hindus then it is not right to keep the Danpatees (Donation Boxes) in the temples. And now again the same video has come up for discussion. On this, writer Advaita Kala, sharing this video from his Twitter account, wrote that, priests of Karnataka have started removing the donation box from the temple. And if the money of the devotees is not for the Hindus, then why donate boxes? Will the temples ever be free from government control?
This type of problem is not only about one state. This type of problem can also be seen in other states of the country. In states where there are secular governments, often such news comes out from there. The secular governments of India have exempted the church and Waqf Board with the largest land from government control, but the lands of the temples have been sold from time to time, with some excuse. Even, priests who serve God by staying in the temple day and night do not even get a fair salary.
