Covid-19 test of Pilots and Crew should be negative before boarding planes: Air India
Only Covid-19 negative pilots and crew member can board the plane, Air India has made it mandatory, It has been said in an official statement.
Air India executive director, Capt. RS Sandhu, said in a circular, “The airline is investigating the Covid-19. Since this is a new practice and there is a shortage of staff in the office, there is a possibility of a lapse in this matter.”
He also mentioned, “Any lapse in this subject will not only adversely affect the flights and the airline’s image will be tarnished, but other members of the crew will also be affected by such irresponsible actions.”
Regarding Saturday’s incident, two senior officials said that it was an omission from the officers who inspected the coronavirus test report of the crew members. Also, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has started investigating the case based on an initial report by the airline.
He said that the airline officials who were asked to look into the medical reports of the crew members did not see the Covid-19 test report of the pilot properly before sending it to flight duty.
Air India said on Saturday that they recalled the aircraft immediately after it was found that a former crew member of the cockpit was tested positive of Covid-19.
