‘I was brutally beaten, burnt with cigarettes’, Uttarakhand Youth complaint against Senior IPS Officer

The hooliganism of the police in the state is at its peak nowadays. Reports of misbehavior and ill-treatment of people by police officers are coming in front of us which is condemnable. Recently a similar shameful incident has also come out of Dehradun. PVK Prasad, a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) posted at a large post in Dehradun has been accused of brutally beating a young man in a police post and behaving indecently, after which there was an uproar. It is alleged that the officer has crossed all limits of cruelty and misbehavior with a young man in a case and has also beaten him severely. The young man with whom his family is accused of assaulting the staff of the post is also included inside it. The family of the victim has demanded strict action against the accused police officer. In view of the seriousness of the case, the police captain has handed over the investigation of this entire case to SP City Shweta Chaubey.

The matter is related to Bindal post Police Station Cantt. The victim Angad Arora, who is a resident of Vijay Park, complained to DGP Uttarakhand and told that the accused IPS officer called him on a special case and asked for help and asked him to come to the post alone. When Angad spoke of bringing his father Arvinder Arora with him, the IPS officer said that he wanted to meet Angad in private. Angad got into the talk of IPS and reached Bindal Chowki at around 2 pm on Monday. Angad alleges that the accused IPS officer gave him many slaps as soon as he reached the post, after which he was horrified. Angad was then asked to take off his clothes.

When Angad refused to take off his clothes and protested against the misbehavior and assault, four policemen of the outpost forcibly took off clothes and were constantly attacked by wooden skirts at the bottom of Angad’s waist. Crossing all limits of disgrace, the policemen tied Angad’s mouth with a cloth so that the sound of his shouting would not go out. As soon as the news of the case is received, there is a stir in the police headquarters. There is an atmosphere of extreme tension in the victim’s family as well. The victim’s family has lodged a complaint at the police headquarters and demanded strict action against the accused officer and policemen. The police captain has handed over the investigation to SP City Shweta Chaubey. At the same time, DGP Anil Raturi says that the entire investigation in this case has been given to SP City Shweta Chaubey. Any further action can be taken only after the investigation is completed.

The complaint stated that he “came in contact with the officer’s daughter a few months ago through a common friend and spoke over the phone on several occasions as friends. However, after some time their contact stopped due to some reasons.”

Then a few days ago on August 9, the girl messaged him on Instagram following which he gave his mobile number and asked her to call him. But he didn’t receive any call from her. He then called on her mobile number on August 10 and the call was received by Prasad, the girl’s father.

“The police officer then identified himself as the girl’s father and asked me to meet him as he wanted some help regarding his daughter. Believing him, I went to meet him on the same day. But he took me to Bindal police check-post where he thrashed me after forcibly getting me naked with the help of some cops present there,” said the complainant.
