Unsung Heroes of Indian History: Tara Rani Shrivastava

Who is Tara Rani Shrivastava.
Why is it important to talk about her ?
Why is it important to write about her ?
It is really very important because she deserves it.

Tara Rani was one of those freedom fighters who didn’t get much name, fame, and appreciation. She was born in Saran, Bihar, got married to Phulendu Babu at a very early age. She galvanized women around and from her village to take part in Quit Inda Movement.

In August 1942 Tara Rani and Phulendu Babu were called by Mahatma Gandhi. They organized a march to hoist the flag of India in front of Siwan Police Station, Police tried to stop them, When they could not get the control in their hand they lathi-charged the protestors and opened rounds of fire. Phulendu Babu was among the shot and wounded. After bandaging him with her torn saree, Tara Rani continued her march to the Police Station. She hoisted the flag there.

After her returning, she got to know that her husband Phulendu Babu had died of the injuries but she continued to be a part of the freedom struggle until India got freedom.

She was one of the strongest pillars of Gandhi’s Quit India Movement. She did something almost 78 years ago which is not very easy for people to do even today.

I started writing about a Hero and ended writing about a heroine. Not by mistake but willingly because Heroines are new Heroes.
