UP government will not impose additional tax on the public to compensate for the financial loss caused by the lockdown: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that his state has benefited the most from the economic package announced by the central government during the Corona crisis and the state government will not impose any new tax on the public to compensate for the financial loss caused by the lockdown.

Yogi said in an interaction with reporters through an online medium that Uttar Pradesh has benefited the most from the poor welfare package announced by the central government and other reliefs. The result of that is that we have been able to carry forward our plans successfully. He said, “Unlock action will start from Monday after four stages of lockdown. While controlling the locked areas, preparations are being made to exempt maximum works in the remaining areas. Our economic activities are advancing rapidly and we are getting good revenue this month as compared to the previous month. We are trying to give more and more relief to the public instead of levying any separate tax.”

Yogi said, “Most of the development schemes have started in Uttar Pradesh. It is our endeavor that ‘Jaan Bhi and Jahan Bhi’ will carry with them both. We are concentrating on furthering economic activity by breaking the corona hard.” Asked about the Corona blast that more people would come out to open the temples, the chief minister said, “The gathering of more people will have to be stopped at all costs.” There will be no major event. I believe that now everyone is ready to live with this virus.’

The Chief Minister congratulated the Prime Minister and his cabinet on the first successful year of the second term of the Narendra Modi government at the Center and said that the issues that were earlier limited to slogans were converted in reality by Modi. Yogi referred to various schemes of the Center including Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Namami Gange.

He claimed that for the first time farmers in the country got the benefit of minimum support price. He said that the Modi government has ensured the practice of triple talaq which has hurt the dignity of women for centuries. The historic mistake of another government was rectified by removing Article 370, which challenged the sovereignty of the country. The Chief Minister said that 30 lakh migrant workers came from other states in Uttar Pradesh during the lockdown. Everyone believed that they would cause chaos, but we believed that they were our strength.
