On June 9 in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, a Dalit colony was burnt by an attacking mob of 500 people. The houses of Dalits were first vandalized and then the township was set on fire, this also killed their cattle. In this way, along with being homeless, they also faced a livelihood crisis.

The question arises that why the flag bearers and so called thinkers of secularism are silent on Jaunpur incident? The main accused in this case, Javed Siddiqui, is associated with the Samajwadi Party. SP President Akhilesh Yadav wanted to field him from Jaunpur Sadar seat in the last assembly elections but later left it to Bahujan Samaj Party. In these elections, there was an alliance between SP and BSP.

If any Hindu organization had played a role in this incident, the flag bearers of secularism and tolerance would have created an uproar by now. But they have kept silence on the incident in Jaunpur. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury, Hyderabad’s Muslim leaders Asaduddin Owaisi, Jignesh Mewani, Omar Abdullah, Chandrashekhar of Bhim Army, Dalit leaders Prakash Ambedkar, Dilip Mandal and Chandrabhan Prasad did not give any statement on the incident. is.

Chandrashekhar of Bhim Army had accompanied the protesters against the CAA by going to Jama Masjid and Jamia but he is silent on Jaunpur incident. Similarly, Priyanka Gandhi had staged a 26-hour sit-in on the killing of 10 tribals in Sonbhadra, but this time there was no statement from her side. Opposition leaders who have been abusing the Modi government for every incident have also kept silence on this.

In this case, police have registered a case against 58 named and 100 unknown accused in the case. On Thursday, police arrested 35 accused including Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Javed Siddiqui in this case and sent them to jail. Expressing displeasure over the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath immediately directed strict action against all the accused for burning the house of Dalits along with filing a case under the NSA. Taking a serious stand on the negligence imposed in this case, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered immediate departmental action against the SHO Sanjeev Mishra.
